Apu Wood (Pistia stratiotes) as Phytoremediation Agent of Screen-printing Wastewater

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract. The screen-printing process produces wastewater like organic compounds that are difficult to degrade and heavy metals such as chromium, copper, manganese, lead, which toxic can accumulate in the human body through food chain. Phytoremediation is one method utilizes plants' ability reduce inorganic pollutants, including metals. Objective: This study aimed describe concentration of waste be tolerated by apu wood plants analyze effectiveness a metal remediator. Technology or Method: used this research combination filtration phytoremediation using Pb Cr,6+ preliminary test Cr6+ contained was carried out. Results: Apu lives thrives on wastewater, with an average 34 new individuals' tillers growth within 15 days. propagation produced total biomass 145 grams per reactor. remediator 13.65%, accumulated leaves 0.0911 mg/L. accumulation 0.6635 component during days treatment did not show positive effect removal because higher chromium element oxidation reaction occurred process.

Phytoremediation to remove nutrients and improve eutrophic stormwaters using water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes L.).

BACKGROUND, AIM, AND SCOPE Water quality impairment by nutrient enrichment from agricultural activities has been a concern worldwide. Phytoremediation technology using aquatic plants in constructed wetlands and stormwater detention ponds is increasingly applied to remediate eutrophic waters. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effectiveness and potential of water lettuce (Pistia s...

Evaluation of the potential of Pistia stratiotes L. (water lettuce) for bioindication and phytoremediation of aquatic environments contaminated with arsenic.

Specimens of Pistia stratiotes were subjected to five concentrations of arsenic (As) for seven days. Growth, As absorption, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, photosynthetic pigments, enzymatic activities, amino acids content and anatomical changes were assessed. Plant arsenic accumulation increased with increasing metalloid in the solution, while growth rate and photosynthetic pigment content decr...

Phytoremediation of Palm Oil Mill Effluent by using Pistia Stratiotes Plant and Algae Spirulina sp for Biomass Production (RESEARCH NOTE)

Producing crude palm oil (CPO) will have side effect on producing palm oil mill effluent (POME).  Besides of high COD /BOD contents, POME still contains high amount of nutrients (nitrogen, phosphor and mineral). Traditional treatment of palm oil mill effluent using facultative anaerobic method not fully eliminated COD and BOD into allowable limit. The objective of this research was to utilize p...

Evaluation of Anthelmintic Activity of Pistia stratiotes Linn.

The ethanolic extract of the plant Pistia stratiotes (Araceae) was investigated for activity against Indian earthworms Pheretima posthuma and nematode Ascardi galli. Various concentrations (10, 20, 50 mg/ml) of ethanolic extract were tested, which involved determination of time of paralysis and time of death of the worms. It was compared with Piperazine citrate (15 mg/ml) and Albendazole (20 mg...
